Your doctor is there to help you learn about bone metastases and answer all of your questions. It’s also important to talk with your doctor so you understand what treatment options are available to help prevent the serious bone problems that bone metastases can cause. Serious bone problems are defined as broken bones (fractures), a need for surgery to prevent or repair broken bones, a need for radiation treatments to the bone, or pressure on the spinal cord (spinal cord compression).¹
